Each Spring, the cold melts away, the birds start to chirp and new life buds from the earth. But for those of us who work at SLC, Spring means only one thing . . .
CAMP IS ALMOST HERE!
Volunteer Day is an annual event where our most dedicated campers, staff, alumni and friends help get camp ready for the summer after a long, cold winter. Projects include painting, spreading woodchips, gardening, weeding, brush clearing, and more!
All participants who work until 3pm receive a Volunteer Day t-shirt and a Kosher BBQ lunch is provided to all.
This is an excellent way to fulfill community service requirements for schools.
Most important, Volunteer Day is fun and fulfilling, an inevitable byproduct of bringing so many warm and enthusiastic members of the Surprise Lake Camp and local community together.

Mission Statement
The mission of Surprise Lake Camp is to provide a high quality Jewish experience for children and young adults that is safe and fun and promotes personal growth. Through our summer camp and year round programs, we promote Jewish identity building, environmental stewardship, and the development of values and skills that help people lead fulfilling lives and become assets to their communities. Surprise Lake Camp is committed to providing scholarships for families that cannot afford our full fee.
Description
Surprise Lake Camp boasts one of the most beautiful sites in the country, one of the most reputable programs, and a large, well-trained, caring staff. Many facilities, like our theater and gymnasium, are among the finest that you will find anywhere.
But Surprise Lake Camp does not try to be like an exotic theme park, full of bright lights and glitter. We don't emphasize material things because we believe that the true magic of camping is rooted in intangibles like the beauty of nature, the guidance of a highly trained staff, and helping children to grow into well-rounded adults.
Camp is a supportive, caring community with an upbeat Jewish flavor. We sing a lot and we cheer a lot, and we make the most of the unique opportunity camp affords to create a model of the world as it should be--joyous and at peace, achieving the human potential for successful group living.
