Adaptive Recreation & Learning Exchange (AR&LE) is a cooperative between the cities ofBloomington,Eden Prairie,Edina and Richfield that provides recreation, leisure and community education opportunities for people with disabilities.
The AR&LE Ski & Snowboard program is seeking intermediate to advanced ski and/or snowboard volunteers to teach individuals with developmental disabilities how to ski or snowboard. For a successful season 70 - 80 volunteers are needed.
2015 will be our 25th year of providing Downhill Ski Lessons and 15th year of providing Snowboard Lessons to people with disabilities at Buck Hill in Burnsville. The purpose of the downhill ski and snowboard program is to provide quality instruction to individuals with developmental disabilities, like autism, attention deficit disorder, down syndrome and learning disabilities. Our program serves around 60-70 students of various ages and abilities each year. Without volunteers our program would not be possible or the huge success that it is!
The benefit to you as a volunteer: You will be provided each Wednesday with a free lift ticket and free ski or snowboard rental. You also get to meet a great individual to ski or snowboard with for 2 hours each Wednesday for 6 weeks!
Skills- Downhill Ski or Snowboard: We are looking for intermediate to advanced skiiers & snowboarders
Important dates to consider when volunteering with our program:
Dry-Land Training: Wednesday, January 14, 2015 7:00 - 8:30 pm
On-the-Hill Training: Sunday, January 18, 2015 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Program Dates: Wednesdays, January 21 - February 25, 2014 6:30 - 8:45 pm
*Make-up Date: March 4
