Lend a hand as the Reception and Placement Team sets up an apartment for a refugee family!
The Refugee and Immigrant Services program of LSS/NCA needs strong bodies to help us with setting up homes for newly arrived refugees. We need YOUR help to set up a home for a newly arrived refugee family.
Volunteer must meet at Falls Church VA Office, and MUST commit to 9am-3pm shift.
*MONDAY MUSCLE MOVERS*
Every Monday, volunteers like you help us pick up housing furniture so we can furnish new refugee housing! We can't do pick-ups or housing set-ups without YOU! Can be one time opportunity or weekly dedicated volunteer opportunity.
*SET-UP MUSCLE MOVERS*
Apartment Set-ups may occur Monday - Friday, volunteers will be on call for the available days they indicate in our online volunteer application.

Description
The LSS/NCA Refugee & Immigrant Services program provides support and services including reception, resettlement and employment services for refugees, asylees and victims of human trafficking.

Our current activities include:
Reception and Placement: Currently, we are welcoming refugees from: Burma, Liberia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Early Self-Sufficiency Program: Combines private donations with federal matching funds to provide an alternative to welfare for new arrivals. The goal is to find employment for the refugee as soon as possible.
