Volunteers with expertise in specific areas are needed to assist staff throughout the year with:

  • Billing, Finance, Organize, and Filing
  • Fundraising, Development and Marketing
  • Special events planning
  • Public Relations and Social Media
  • Community Outreach
  • Research

Volunteers are needed to assist staff throughout the year with conducting free hearing screenings at various community and corporate health/wellness fairs, governmental offices, various civic/service/professional organizations, and at private schools. Hearing screenings are usually conducted during daytime hours on weekdays, with some Saturday community events held as well. The duration of most screening events is 2-4 hours. These volunteers serve as "Speech & Hearing Ambassadors", advocating for better speech-language-hearing health awareness. Ambassadors receive training to assist staff with operating hearing screening equipment; they distribute educational materials at health fair events; and may serve on the agency’s Speakers Bureau.

Description

The Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is a non-profit health facility whose mission is to provide the highest quality professional and compassionate care to all individuals (both children and adults) with hearing, speech and/or language disorders in the Northeast Florida area. The Center has been serving the greater-Jacksonville community since 1949, is conveniently located in downtown Jacksonville with its own parking lot, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Volunteers are needed to assist staff throughout the year with conducting free hearing screenings at various community and corporate health/wellness fairs, governmental offices, various civic/service/professional organizations, and at private schools.

Volunteers with expertise in specific areas are needed to assist staff throughout the year with:

  • Special events planning
  • Fundraising, Development and Marketing
  • Public Relations and Social Media
  • Community Outreach
  • Research
  • Outreach to physician offices

Volunteer activities can be tailored to the particular interests, expertise and experience of volunteers.
