Help Survivors of Sexual Assault

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for compassionate individuals to volunteer with our rape crisis advocacy program. When you volunteer as an advocate you can rest assured that you’re going to be making a difference in the life of a survivor of sexual assault. Our volunteer advocates accompany survivors to emergency rooms, police departments, and provide one on one crisis intervention over the telephone to victims and their significant others.

Each volunteer must complete our comprehensive 40+hour training which will provide you with all the skills and knowledge to do this rewarding work. The training session is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays (9 am -5 pm) and the next training will be in July/August. 7/23,25,27,30; 8/1,3,6,8.

There are typically 2-3 trainings offered a year in DuPage. We also have a lot of professionals in the field who take our training strictly as professional development. There is a minimal charge for volunteers.

Please contact Colleen Zavodny at 630-580-5707 or at Colleen.Zavodny@ywcachicago.org for more questions and to register for our next training.
