Rewarding Volunteer Opportunity - Brookfield Zoo

Community Support Services (CSS), a Brookfield, IL-based social service organization, is in need a volunteer Job Coach to teach customer service-oriented job skills to adults with intellectual / development disabilities (I/DD).

The training location is the Hamill Family Play Zoo within the Brookfield Zoo. The interested volunteer will be placed with a CSS individual, for a 10-week period and will commit to Job Coaching from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each Saturday or Sunday (your choice) during that time. This means you will shadow them and help them in customer service roles as they work with children in face painting andother fun activities at the Hamill Family Play Zoo. You will provide self-esteem, build independence, and create an opportunity for this individual to participate in community life.

CSS is a unique agency in Illinois, as we are one of the few that uses an individualized, family-centered and community-based approach that truly reinforces the independence and self-esteem of almost 500 children and adults each month.These state-of-the-art services have three major outcomes. They empower individuals to lead and independent and productive life. They strengthen families by supporting them in caring for their children with disabilities. They educate the general public so that people may understand and support their needs. This unique service approach has gained the recognition of families, political leaders, state funders and service organizations throughout Illinois.
