Mission Statement

AAMAN's Mission is to create an environment of cultural acceptance by eliminating "mere" cultural tolerances. Share cultural differences through open-honest dialogue by addressing racism and intolerance. Reduce poverty and build sustainable prosperity for low-income families. Provide educational resources to children and young adults in order to realize the possibility of a successful and productive life. Develop employment and educational opportunities for low-income families while inspiring children to learn, adults to teach and communities to move forward together.

We believe the quality of the investment we make in our youth and their families will help to positively shape their future. All of these individuals represent the promise of accomplishing great things and deserve every opportunity to fulfill that promise without restrictions.

Our Goals are:

  • Create an environment of cultural acceptance by eliminating "mere" cultural tolerances.
  • Share cultural differences through open-honest dialogue by addressing racism and intolerance.
  • Develop employment and educational opportunities for low-income families while inspiring children to learn, adults to teach and communities to move forward together.
Our target populations are at-risk children of all backgrounds.

Description

With our 15-Unit Curriculum, each child will learn all the aspects of reading from phonics to vocabulary and listening to behavioral skills. Our curriculum is taught sequentially from a multisensory perspective. Each child is given an assessment test on the first day of enrollment. Their progress is monitored and reviewed weekly. We offer tutoring for the K-3rd grader who may have missed a good literacy foundation, thus improving their chance of academic success.

The Program targets children that are at the greatest risk of educational failure to have equal access to literacy and other educational and life skill building opportunities and resources. The Program also targets illiterate parents at or below the poverty level to provide literacy and employment opportunities. All children are welcomed! Executive Director, Valjean Adams.
