Mentors Needed for Youth Program

Do you enjoy spending time with young people? Compeer Rochester needs you! Youth are referred to Compeer because they are dealing with challenges such as mental illness, poor social skills, or the absence of a parent due to incarceration or military deployment. All youth in our program have the support of a mental health professional already, so no prior experience is necessary to volunteer. Our staff will screen and train you, help you select your mentee, and then provide ongoing support, training opportunities, and free or low-cost activities. If you know how to be a friend, advocate, and a positive role model, you can change a young person's life. More importantly, you could change your own. Compeer Rochester uses community volunteers to provide guidance and support to individuals who are looking to improve their well-being as a supplement to mental health treatment. For over 40 years, we have helped people in our community who are isolated and lacking socialization, all through the power of 1:1 mentoring relationships.
