Position Title: Nonprofit Development Volunteer or Intern

Commitment: 6+ hours a week, flexible schedule. Monday-Friday between 9 am and 5 pm, with work from home possible for some projects.

Position Description and Duties: The Nonprofit Development Volunteer or Intern will work within the Development Department and may assist with the following and more:

  • Raising awareness and coordinating logistics for special events such as Cultivate LA, Brass Ring, Celebration Graduation, etc.;
  • Creating social media posts for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and LinkedIn;
  • Developing or editing videos for social media use;
  • Donor research, cultivation, and follow-up;
  • Data entry and filing; and
  • Mail merges and mailings.

Skills and Qualities: United Friends of the Children is seeking a dedicated and creative individual looking to gain nonprofit marketing or fundraising experience, or eager to share their marketing or fundraising talents with the organization. Existing media relationships would be a bonus. Qualified candidates must be reliable, detail-oriented, and flexible in switching tasks, with solid writing and communications skills. Candidates must be a computer-savvy individual that is familiar with MS Office programs, internet research, various social media platforms, and copy and fax machines. Candidates must have a willingness to learn new programs, and must be able to follow instructions and work with confidential information or sensitive situations with minimal supervision.

Volunteer Process: Volunteers/interns are recruited for open positions until the positions are filled. They are selected based on their skills, commitment, and availability. Prior to beginning service, volunteers/interns are required to attend an orientation, get fingerprinted, and pass a background check. UFC is seeking to build a meaningful, long-term relationship with its volunteer community and is looking for volunteers eager to connect with our organization’s mission and youth. Please note that it may take up to three weeks to be processed after attending an orientation.
