Director of Fundraising
Standup For Kids--DC is looking for a dedicated volunteer to help coordinate its financial development! StandUp for Kids is a national volunteer-driven organization dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness. Founded in 1990, the organization has over 40 programs in cities around the country that offer a range of services such as street outreach, mentoring, runaway prevention, advocacy, transitional housing, and drop-in centers. The DC program is looking for a new Director of Fundraising who can help the chapter realize its goal of ending the cycle of youth homelessness in the District.
The Director of Fundraising for StandUp For Kids - DC works in cooperation with other members of the leadership team to determine the program’s funding needs, create and maintain a program budget, identify possible fundraisers, and execute fundraising events and campaigns. The Director may be assisted in his or her duties by an Assistant Director of Fundraising.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Create and execute an annual Fundraising Plan to support the program’s goals;
- Design, plan, and coordinate fundraising events as laid out in the Fundraising Plan, with assistance from other directors;
- Develop and maintain a program budget in coordination with the executive director and other program directors;
- Develop relationships with potential corporate donors or individuals who may give large or recurring donations, in coordination with other program directors; and
- Coordinate and supervise the work of other fundraising volunteers.
Work Conditions:
Periodic teleconferencing with the Executive Director to ensure development activities are aligned with program goals. Attend monthly leadership meetings, complete volunteer orientation, and attend additional required training as needed. This position will require 6-8 hours per week of independent work, not including monthly leadership meetings and periodic special projects. Position is pro bono.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic team player able to work effectively with both leadership and volunteers. Candidate should have:
- Ability to plan and manage projects with minimum direction
- Strong leadership ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience or work with budget development, finance, or accounting
- Superior organizational and planning skills
- Strong sense of personal integrity
- Sincere desire to help homeless and street youth

Where will I have my next meal? When can I shower? Where will I sleep tonight? We assist homeless youth in tackling some of their everyday obstacles and work towards a life of safety, good health, and connections off the streets.

Since 1990, we have cared for homeless and at-risk youth by transitioning them from crisis to connection. We give our youth a sense of safety, hope, and belonging through housing support, mentoring, drop-in centers, and street outreach.
