Aloha,
Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers to enhance the lives of homeless children living in poverty across our island. Our agency is solely supported by the public's support and donations.
This is our 10th year providing thousands of children with holiday cheer. Our holiday party features Santa and Me photos, dinner for the family, games with prizes, crafts and much, much more. We invite over 300 children from across the island to attend this special event. Then on Christmas Eve we deliver Santa's special gifts to the children living in poverty stricken situations across the island. You can help make all these wishes come true by helping a few hours.

We are gearing up for our annual Holiday Christmas Party for the homeless children and their Christmas Eve deliveries from Santa.
Our agency had been hosting a gift wrap booth for 5 years at the Borders in Kona. This was a crucial part of our success. Well now that Borders is gone...we have redirected our efforts to start a new Christmas Wrap and Toy Collection site at the International Market Place in Kona.
This wrapping booth will allow us to let the community know how they can get involved, sponsor a child for the holidays or just make a donation towards their holiday party by having their gifts wrapped.
We are seeking volunteers to commit to a 3.5 hour shift.
10:00-1:30 or 1:30-5:00. We will have 7 days a week available.

DUTIES: The primary duty is gift wrapping for customers. We will provide a professional gift wrap station with paper, ribbon, tape and scissors and boxes available.
The secondary but more important duty is to have the community sponsor a child, or to collect donations of toys, etc that come in. We will be advertising that is our new drop off location, etc.

TIME: We will be setting up the station over the Thanksgiving Shopping Weekend, and end Dec. 23rd.

Description

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers to enhance the lives of children living in poverty situations on the islands of Hawai'i. Our public supported charity works year round to provide necessities to children living in substandard housing situations, such as tents on the waters edge, abandon vehicles, and make-shift structures hidden in the bushes and hills.

Our agency provides children with holiday parties, meals and services for all the major holidays including Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Other monthly services include providing emergency support, hygiene, food, clothing and outreach to the children living in homeless situations on 3 of the islands of Hawai'i, the Big Island (Hawai'i), Mau'i and O'ahu.

Project Hawai'i also provides educational and nutritional programs that include after school reading and tutoring programs and our summer camp activities. Children will also receive full back to school support from new backpacks filled with supplies, new outfits, and shoes. We also provide other educational needs throughout the year.

Project Hawai'i Summer Camp has ran for 15 years and won several dozen awards in nutrition and educational support. This program is our largest endevor and evolves year after to year to include even more learning opportunities to our keiki.
