826CHI is looking for volunteers from all over the city of Chicago! Our troop of dedicated, enthusiastic, and oh-so-wonderful volunteers are the backbone of our organization, which provides free creative writing and tutoring programs to students around the city.
Volunteers assist in running every single student program, in addition to serving as lead agents in the Wicker Park Secret Agent Supply Co., designing chapbook covers, and copyediting student work for publication. As such, we are always looking for more volunteers to support our mission.
We strive to honor whatever time you are able to give us, whether that's volunteering for one field trip a month, teaching one workshop per session, or serving as a weekly tutor. Please note that for certain programs, namely after-school tutoring, we require that volunteers commit to participating one day per week, and commit to volunteering for a minimum of 4 months. Other long-term In-Schools projects may also require a more regular commitment, depending on what our partner teacher's needs are for that term.
826CHI is currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers for spring and summer 2017 programs!

Mission Statement
826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this in mind, we provide after-school tutoring, weekend workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications. All of our programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in their individual voice.
Description
826CHI is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our writing programs, as well as with other aspects of the organization (supporting the Wicker Park Secret Agent Supply Co., providing graphic design and illustration for our student publications). If you are interested in getting involved, please complete the volunteer application on our website.
