This grassroots effort is inspired by those Red Cross volunteers who knit socks and sweaters for soldiers and refugees during World Wars I and II and at other times of crisis and need. Your gift will bring comfort and warmth to Afghan families who continue to suffer from oppression, war, hunger, poverty, and sickness. Your lovingly garments will send a message of friendship and respect to our fellow humans on the other side of the globe. Visit http://www.afghansforAfghans.org/blanket.html for details on getting started and current campaign guidelines and active due dates. We look forward to your participation.

Description
Americans are making ... afghans for Afghans! Please join us. Knit or crochet a handmade blanket for an Afghan refugee. This grassroots effort is inspired by those Red Cross volunteers who made afghans, socks, slippers, and other garments for soldiers and refugees during World Wars I and II and at other times of crisis and need. Your gift of a handmade blanket will bring comfort and warmth to Afghan women, men, and children who continue to suffer from oppression, war, hunger, poverty, and sickness. Your lovingly made afghan will send a message of concern and hope to our fellow humans on the other side of the globe. This project is an excellent activity for community and youth groups, too. Each individual makes a square, then sew the squares into one blanket. Visit http://www.afghansforAfghans.org/blanket.html for details on getting started, plus free patterns and shipping address. The Agape Foundation is our fiscal sponsor.
