If you have some time to give and like driving how about volunteering as a Van Driver for a local senior center?

You need the following to qualify:

  1. Current Washington State drivers license with good driving record
  2. Ability to drive a large van and/or mini bus (14 passengers)
  3. Work well with people from all walks of life
  4. Have the ability to assist seniors in/out of the vehicle and make sure you bring everyone back to the Center when the trip is over!

Trips can be for fun (Casino/ball games/sightseeing) or to the grocery store for example. You will always be back by 5:00/6:00pm at the latest.

This opportunity is posted by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Snohomish County. RSVP is dedicated to helping persons over 55 have meaningful volunteer experiences in their communities.

Mission Statement

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Snohomish County matches skills/training and preferences of persons 55+ to available volunteer opportunities and promotes their voluntary service as a valuable community resource.

Description

RSVP matches personal interests, skills and lifelong experiences with non-profit public organizations at over 116 different partner agencies, including non-profits, throughout the county. Benefits of being an RSVP volunteer are: ~excess insurance coverage including Liability, Auto, and Accident. ~partial reimbursement for transporatation costs to and from volunteer stations, subject to certain regulations and limits. ~ongoing recognition and Annual Recognition Event to RSVP volunteers. The only agency tracking and reporting the volunteer activities of persons age 55 and older through the National Senior Corps, RSVP promotes retired and senior persons as viable members of the community, able to share their skills, time and experience through volunteer service.
