Tender Mercies

Tender Mercies transforms the lives of homeless adults with mental illness by providing security, dignity, and community in a place they call home.

Our goal is to provide the residents of Tender Mercies at least one hot meal a day. Our residents are dealing with many issues and obstacles that may prohibit them from providing sufficiently for themselves. Your service ensures that our residents get a healthy, nourishing meal in a community setting.

Many of our Meal Volunteers provide a meal regularly, which could be as seldom as annually (i.e. a particular holiday meal) or as often as monthly (i.e. 1st Monday every month). Volunteers choose to serve Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner on the day of their preference from our calendar (http://www.tendermerciesinc.volunteerhub.com)

Food must be prepared in advance. We do have microwaves, stove tops, and ovens for heating up food or final preparations. Many of our meal groups use crock pots and food warmers to help transport their meals. Volunteers are responsible for bringing plates, bowls, cups and napkins, including beverages and paper products.

About Tender Mercies

Location:

27 West 12th Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202, US

Mission Statement

Tender Mercies transforms the lives of homeless adults with mental illness by providing security, dignity, and community in a place they call home. Security means a housing environment where residents' personal safety is a priority. Dignity means a housing environment that allows residents to develop personal, social, and economic strengths. And community is a regular, predictable housing environment that offers a sense of family, while affirming the individual.

Description

Tender Mercies is a vibrant community that achieves our mission by maintaining 134 units of permanent supportive housing and 16 units of transitional housing in 6 buildings in Over-the-Rhine. Our model of housing is based on the belief that by addressing the root causes of homelessness, we can help an individual break the cycle of homelessness once he or she leaves Tender Mercies. We accomplish our goals by providing an array of supportive services coupled with housing.
