Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida is looking for a Public Policy and Organizing Intern to provide programmatic, administrative and research support to the Public Affairs Department. This position is based out of our West Palm Beach office. The ideal candidate is a highly energetic self-starter and natural organizer able to work with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds. Working under the supervision of the Regional Organizer, interns will be provided daily experiences to work alongside staff members and therefore are expected to learn and process quickly while thinking on their feet. This is an ideal learning opportunity for anyone wanting to develop a career in grassroots organizing, public policy, advocacy, or public health.
Internship Learning Objectives:
- Learn to engage, train, and retain new potential volunteers through recruitment and community events
- Master data and technology tools by entering, organizing, and maintaining data from volunteer activities
- Assist in the recruitment, coaching, and development local teams of individuals who will work together to plan outreach events to recruit new potential volunteers and supporters
- Develop leadership and organizing skills
- Gain firsthand knowledge of organizing; including how local campaigns are built and carried out
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in constituency outreach; including youth/campus organizing, health center advocacy and organizing in diverse communities
- Coordinate volunteer management, training and retention
- Provide day-to-day assistance to the Public Affairs Coordinator
Requirements:
- Current graduate or undergraduate student in good academic standing
- Ability to communicate with the public about Planned Parenthood health services, mission, and goals
- Demonstrated interest in public affairs, public health, sexual and reproductive health, grassroots organizing, or public policy
- Outgoing and friendly demeanor with experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to represent Planned Parenthood in a professional manner at all times
- Candidates must submit a one-page resume and one-page cover letter
Intern should have flexible availability and be able to make a minimum commitment of 10 to 15 hours a week.

Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast, Inc. is a private, nonprofit healthcare agency founded and incorporated in 1971 by Harriette Glasner and Dr. Carl Brumback.
Our affiliate was established due to concerns about the rising rates of teenage pregnancy, increasing incidence of sexually transmitted diseases, and lack of birth control information and services. Our goals were and remain to provide reproductive healthcare to all people requesting such services and to educate the community in all areas of responsible human sexuality.
