Reach and Rise Mentoring (formerly Building Futures) is a national one-to-one mentoring program designed to move youth from risk to resiliency. This therapeutic mentoring program helps build a better future for youth by matching them with an adult mentor for one year.
In collaboration with the YMCA of the East Bay, Building Futures offers mentoring with the Tri-Valley Y, serving youth in Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, and San Ramon.
As a Volunteer Mentor, you will gain personal satisfaction from making a difference in a youth's life by devoting time and sharing your strengths. You will also find increased regard and respect for people from different cultures and backgrounds; but most importantly, you will achieve a sense of belonging to your community with lasting memories and fun times!
Mentors will receive training and ongoing consultation with a therapist through the YMCA. Through clinical training, mentors will learn about child development, psychology, counseling skills, and cultural diversity.
