Pet Therapy Volunteers Make A Difference
Furry Friends bring smiles to seniors.

Canine Companion is a way for people and their pets to help others by sharing their compassion and goodwill. Pets and their owners visit and interact with a wide variety of people that need support. Therapy patients get a chance to pet, talk to and bond with visiting pets. . Responsibilities includes: Keep and maintain healthy dogs for use in the program Ensure dog is physically and mentally sound Must be able to carry out volunteer assignments independently Be committed to volunteer on a consistent basis Be friendly, courteous and able to relate to all patients who may be under stress Genuine interest in people and a desire to help individuals Sensitivity to the needs or others- patients, families, staff, other volunteers Willingness to be flexible and adaptable Training and Orientation: TB Screening General Orientation Background Check Two completed references Handler and dog must pass assessment with Volunteer Manager.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in accordance with the Ohio Department of Health guidelines, Montefiore of Menorah Park is currently not recruiting on-site volunteers. However, letters, cards and greetings are always welcomed.
