If you are a certain age, you may remember the TV show, "Sing along with Mitch". This volunteer opportunity is like that TV program. A group of singers are looking for their own personal song leader ala Mitch Miller.
The Sunshine Singers at the Carl Gipson Senior Center are in search of a new Director. If you are knowledgeable about music, work well with people, can lead a group and help a group learn to sing together you are the person we are looking for.
In this volunteer position you lead the Sunshine Singers as they get together on a weekly basis to harmonize and vocalize their way through the songbook of show tunes, pop music and Americana.
The Singers gather for fellowship, to visit, exercise their lungs and enjoy an activity together. They need someone to be the Director, to assist them in gaining skill and having fun at the same time.
You will work with a diverse population of personalities. You should be a singer yourself and know most of the show and pop tunes of recent years. If you can play the piano that would be even better!
The group currently meets Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2:00 and would like to keep that schedule.
This opportunity is posted by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, helping persons over the ager of 55 have meaningful volunteer experiences in their community.
