"Guest Coordinator" is a a volunteer position that provides hospitality desk assistance at the American Cancer Society Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge, located on the University of South Florida Campus next to Moffitt Cancer Center. Hope Lodge provides free lodging to cancer outpatients seeking treatment away from their hometowns. We are seeking those with a warm and caring attitude committed to our mission in providing a "home away from home" for our guests and their caregivers. Basic responsibilities include answering the telephone, greetings guests, providing information and tours, and assisting Hope Lodge staff with various lodging projects and administrative tasks. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one weekly 3-hour shift for a minimum of 75 volunteer hours. Although we are seeking volunteers for 7 days a week, we specifically are recruiting volunteers able to commit to a weekday shift, daytime or evening. We welcome volunteers from all walks and seasons of life to join us. The main qualification is a desire to help our guests and caregivers have the best experience they can during their journey of cancer treatment.

Description

The American Cancer Society Tampa Hope Lodge is a non-medical residential facility designed to offer housing, emotional support and referral services free of charge to any cancer patient who travels to the Tampa Bay area for treatment. The facility includes 40 suites with private baths that comfortably accommodate the patient and a caregiver. A community dining area and six kitchens provide residents with the opportunity to share meals and free time with others. Residents purchase and prepare their own food in addition to maintaining the upkeep of their suites. Hope Lodge also has a large family room, laundry rooms, a library, internet access and recreational areas. Volunteers make a difference by sharing and caring with Hope Lodge residents. Whether you have a few hours once a week or once a month, you can make a difference. You can volunteer as an individual or as part of a community or civic group on an ongoing basis or as a participant in a one-time project.
