Program description: UCP's Community Home Services is a residential program that gives adults with disabilities the supports to live independently. UCP Central PA is currently running nine group homes. These residences offer a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for adults with disabilities to learn, grow, nurture relationships, and actively participate in the community around them. You can become a part of that nurturing and stimulating environment as a volunteer. We need caring people (teens through seniors) to give their time for companionship. Each home offers our adults lots of activities to engage in, and having new people to share them with adds to the fun. Our residents love to paint, color, do puzzles, play games (UNO, card and board games), have the newspaper read to them, or sit on the patio and enjoy pleasant weather and a good chat. The ladies also like to have someone paint their nails and brush or style their hair. Even just watching a movie or TV show is better when you have a buddy to share it with! Locations: Camp Hill, Enola, Lewistown, Mechanicsburg, Mt. Union, State College, Perry County Hours: Weekday evenings (4 - 8:30 PM) or weekend afternoons (days vary by location); flexible schedule
