Are you passionate about learning about other cultures or want to expand your global knowledge and cultural competency? Are you concerned about foreign affairs and want to make a positive difference? Do you want to make a global impact on a local level?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, you should apply to be a Friendship Volunteer!

Friendship Volunteers are matched with specific international students at local Universities, who they introduce to warm Rochester hospitality and unique local destinations. Friendship Volunteers may also provide practical assistance, such as providing opportunities for students to speak English, navigating the grocery store, or preparing for cold winters!

Friendship Volunteers also provide a vital role in promoting positive U.S. foreign relations. Intercultural friendships help break down stereotypes and cultural barriers, which helps build cultural competency and global perspectives. However, many international students do not have the opportunity to form meaningful connections with local Americans and you can help change that by getting involved!
