Can you spend 3-4 hours, on one or more weekends per season, helping us build and maintain trails? If so, then please consider volunteering with JORBA's Sourlands Mountain Preserve Trail User Group and help us maintain some of the best multi-use trails in the state! This is a great opportunity to get outside, meet new people and give back to your community in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We welcome anyone who wants to help out. There is no age limit but parents must accompany children under 18 years of age. The only thing you will need is some gloves and water. We will teach you everything you need to know.
The 3197 acre Sourland Mountain Preserve is county owned and administered by the Somerset County Park Commission. The Preserve provides passive recreational opportunities in an undisturbed natural setting.
The Somerset County chapter of JORBA was started in 2006 and included both Washington Valley Park and Sourland Mountain Preserve.
For now we have two TM dates but the list will be updated as we get approval for Fall dates. Most trail maintenance sessions last about 4 hours with snacks provided afterwards.
2013 Sourlands Mountain Preserve Trail Maintenance Dates:
Sat 3/30 9am
Sat 4/20 9am
Sat 5/11 9am
Reserving dates more than a few weeks in advance is sometimes difficult. For this reason we ask that you click the "I want to help!" button to get updates on future trail maintenance dates.
We meet at the scheduled time at the lot on Newmans Lane (Click here-->The lot entrance is at the green arrow)
Please be sure to click the "I want to help!" button so we can add you to our contact list in case of cancelations or postponements.
