Volunteer Caregiver Support Network volunteers will visit Veterans in their home for the purpose of providing time off to the caregiver by allowing a period of rest and relaxation for them and companionship to the Veteran. This program will not provide any medical, physical, nor personal care to the Veteran nor perform any chores or homemaker services. This program is primarily for Veterans and their home caregivers who need a respite break.
Respite Services. Respite services is defined as any single day of services, for an allotted amount of time, of volunteer assistance and support provided to Veterans in their home. The Volunteer Caregiver Support Network operating hours for volunteers will be established at each designated site. All visits by the volunteer will be prescheduled.
No experience needed, ideal for nursing students who need patient interactions as a part of the curriculum. The coordinator will provide the Orientation to the VA system, and Respite protocol.
