CASA Jefferson is seeking volunteers committed to helping children by becoming Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). As a CASA, advocates receive in-depth training to advocate in court and in the community for the needs and rights of children in foster care. Advocates come from all walks of life and professions and have one thing in common: they care about kids. Currently in Jefferson Parish, there are 42 children waiting for an Advocate to step up and be their voice in court; these children are counting on you. CASA Jefferson is offering an in-person Advocate training for individuals who want to make a difference in a child's life.

The first step to becoming a CASA is to attend an orientation. Contact Margaret Ether at 504-533-8757 to schedule your orientation and click on the following link to complete an online application

Mission Statement

CASA Jefferson works to break the cycle of abuse and neglect through volunteers advocating for the safe, nurturing, and permanent homes for foster youth in our community.

Description

CASA Jefferson assigns trained, capable, and passionate volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused or neglected childred in the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Court System.

Volunteers get to know a child through face-to-face or phone contact. They talk with everyone in that child's life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers, and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them.

Our volunteers are at the heart of our work. They give hope and a voice to abused and neglected children.
