Is there a nursing home in your neighborhood or close to where you work? Have you visited?
Up to 60% of nursing home residents have no one who visits them regularly - you can make a difference!
Become an Ombudsman Volunteer for nursing home residents in YOUR neighborhood - explain residents' rights, help residents to speak up with their questions and concerns, and partner with ombudsman staff to help residents resolve problems.
If you are a good listener and a strong advocate, help give frail and vulnerable residents a voice by joining our program.
Learn how to advocate for residents in nursing homes - helping them to understand their rights, speak up about their preferences and needs, and partner with ombudsman staff to resolve problems and promote person-centered care. Trained volunteers are assigned a long term care facility near where they live or work. Volunteers are expected to visit and do other program related activities an average of 1 hr/week.

Pro Seniors helps older adults maintain their independence by empowering them, protecting their interests, and helping them access resources.
Description
Pro Seniors' provides legal advice to all Ohio residents age 60 or over who call our legal helpline, and free assistance to people in southwestern Ohio who need to choose and understand nursing homes and related long-term care. Pro Seniors also helps people resolve problems with long-term care providers, understand Medicare and other benefit programs, avoid Medicare fraud, and offers community education and regularly scheduled continuing education for professionals working with older adults.
