Susan G. Komen for the Cure's Greater New York City Affiliate is looking for volunteers who are eager to join us in the fight against breast cancer! Our annual Race for the Cure is set for Sunday, September 18, 2011, and summer grassroots marketing is crucial to the Race's success.
Greenmarkets/Street Fairs:
Canvass at these farmers markets with friends or family. You'll help pass out information about the Race for the Cure along with breast health information.

Note: This is an outdoor activity--dress comfortably.

Help distribute Pink Ribbon pin-ups to local Duane Reade stores in Manhattan. Last year this program raised over $275,000 for Komen Greater NYC.

Individual Grassroots Initiative
Come by the Komen Greater NYC office to pick-up Race materials to promote the 2011 Race for the Cure and distribute them throughout your own neighborhood, local stores, to your friends and family, and to co-workers. We currently have Save the Date Cards in stock; posters will be available starting in late July.
2011 Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure Weekend
Be a part of our biggest event of the year! Help Komen Greater NYC at Advance Registration or on Race Day at various stations throughout Central Park. Volunteer sign-ups for the Race will open on our website later this summer, so keep an eye on this site for more information. If you are interested in organizing a group to volunteer, please contact us at volunteer@komennyc.org.

Founded in 1990, Komen Greater NYC is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015. Since 1999, Susan G. Komen Greater NYC has awarded more than $46 million in grants to a wide variety of community partners and invested in cutting-edge breast cancer research programs. In the last five years alone, Komen Greater NYC has helped more than 830,000 women, men and families in New York City, on Long Island, and in Westchester and Rockland Counties. This year, Komen Greater NYC is awarding more than $1.64 million to 25 local breast health programs as well as $700,000 for national breast cancer research to find the cures.
