In 2010, the Board of Directors engaged the respected, historic architectural firm of John Milner Associates to conduct a detailed field investigation of the historical and structural integrity of the property.
John Milner Associates prepared a report, of the findings of their investigations and treatment recommendations consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Recommendations have been prioritized by need (e.g., immediate, short-term, and long-term).
The members of Lou Tate Foundation Board of Directors are now ready to initiate a capital campaign in order to begin addressing the report findings, based on need. Our goal is to raise $200,000 to save the Little Loomhouse cabins.

Description
The Little Loomhouse is an arts and culture center on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Louisville Landmark. The complex consists of three Victorian cabins. The first, called Esta, was built in 1870. This is the cabin in which the Happy Birthday song was sung for the very first time.
The Little Loomhouse has had the honor of hosting some very famous guests over the years including First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
In addition to hosting school field trips, summer camps, and workshops onsite in the cabins for students of all ages, the Little Loomhouse also demonstrates and teaches weaving and other folk art at cultural, educational and art events throughout the state.
