Hand Hope to a Child - Books, Blankets & Toys

ORGANIZATION: CASA of St. Louis

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 200 people are interested

Individuals interested in collecting and donating items to the children served by Voices for Children do so through the Hand Hope to a Child initiative. This initiative allows the agency to sustain cherished traditions for the children we serve and the CASA volunteers who speak for them.

Books: Many of the children we serve have never owned a book of their own. The gift of reading opens the imagination and brings hope to a child who otherwise may not have any. We accept new (un-used) age- and theme-appropriate books for children ages 0-18.

Blankets: When children are removed from their home, they often have to leave their personal items behind. Even teenagers take comfort in the special sense of security offered by a blanket. We accept new (un-used), handmade blankets for youth of every age and especially seek soft and colorful fleece blankets that are most popular with the kids.

About CASA of St. Louis

Location:

105 S. Central Ave., St. Louis, MO 63105, US

Mission Statement

CASA of St. Louis engages highly trained volunteers to provide best-interest court and community-based advocacy for children in the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.

Description

On any given day there are nearly 1,700 St. Louis children in foster care. These children desperately need a voice in the critical decisions that affect them today and long into the future. These are children who need advocates to speak up for them - to help break the cycle of abuse and set a course for nurturing healthy families for generations. There are many ways you can help give hope and a voice to a child.

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are paired with our staff of child advocacy professionals to create a powerful advocacy team for each child. CASA advocates are sworn officers of the court who get to know each child as an individual and, working with a child advocacy professional, advocate for the child’s best interests in court and in the community where decisions about the child’s life are made.

CASA of St. Louis is a member of the Missouri and National CASA Associations, and the United Way.
