PALS (Pets Assisting the Lives of Seniors) is a program of Meals on Wheels Central Texas that provides our elderly and disabled clients with valuable pet care services. A pet can provide much needed companionship and helps reduce the isolation and loneliness that many of our clients experience. As one client wrote to us, "God Bless you for thinking about our little pets. I love and adore my kitty more than anything or anyone on Earth. I couldn’t live a day without him."

Current volunteer needs:

Pet Transport for Veterinary Visits: PALS is seeking volunteers with weekday availability to transport clients' pet(s) to veterinary appointments for spay/neuter surgery, annual vaccinations and medical procedures. Volunteers use their own vehicle to pick up cats and/or dogs, drive them to the clinic, and take them home when done. PALS staff sends out weekly email requests for transports and volunteers reply as they are available. PALS partners with veterinary clinics in a variety of locations throughout Austin and the surrounding areas.

In-Home Grooming Services: PALS is seeking volunteers with experience in grooming friendly dogs and cats. Our clients have pets who need nail trims, baths and haircuts. PALS can provide some supplies and ensures that all pets are up to date on shots before being groomed. We serve clients all over Austin and many of the surrounding areas.
