A Great Opportunity to Give back to this World!!!
Program Purpose: To provide an educational resource for abused and neglected children in Miami-Dade County by recruiting the help of South Florida's most caring and enthusiastic people.
What We Do: We match qualified adults with specific children in need of extra educational services in order to facilitate a supportive academic relationship. Volunteers are expected to act as a supplementary scholastic resource for their assigned youth, providing them with a reliable mentor, as well as a tutor. We work throughout Miami-Dade county.
Who We Serve: The children we work with are between the ages of 5 and 18, all of whom are currently within the foster care system of Miami-Dade County. The children vary in grade level, IQ, and learning/language impairment. All are currently enrolled in school, but in need of extra academic support.
How you can help: We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, and capable adults. Volunteers should feel a strong desire to contribute to the academic advancement of at-risk youth, and feel comfortable acting as a positive role model. Volunteer sshould be compassionate, patient and have a sense of humor.
Hours of Availability: Volunteers are asked to donate a minimum of one hour per week.

Mission Statement
Empower A Student is a volunteer tutoring program for foster children under the umbrella of Voices for Children
Description
Empower A Student is an organization that ensures tutoring to as many foster homes and live in facilities as possibe, throughout the greater South Florida area. The simple objective and description of a volunteers job is to for at least 1 hour a week, drive or carpool with one of our current volunteer tutors, to a Foster House or live in facility assigned to you and tutor a child or more. You will be linked to a certain house or facility based on the proximity in which you live from the house and by your areas of strength in tutoring. For instance if a child requires math tutoring and your strength is in math, their is a good chance you'll be paired with this child. Most of the children that we work with are between the ages of 8 and 16. Many of these children have not had the proper guidance from the standpoint of being shown the importance of education. It will be your job as a tutor to demonstrate to these children the value of obtaining and advancing their own knowledge as it can open up a world of opportunity for them. Volunteering to tutor with us is a very noble service and it means a tremendous amount to these children. We Appreciate your interest and do contact us for further questions!!!
