Become part of a vibrant learning community and help local adults get the education they need to pursue college or a living wage job.
Volunteers join a class at least once a week in classes for adults seeking to learn English (ESOL). Students learn to speak, listen, read and write English.
Volunteers become a valued part of these classes, giving students more support and allowing them to progress faster. They may work one-on-one with a learner, allow the teacher to divide the class in small groups, or work with the whole class to provide practical and moral support.
**Our introductory English class seeks a Spanish/English bilingual volunteer to support Spanish speaking students. Monday or Wednesday afternoon, 12-3 pm**
Volunteers meet weekly with the same class, lead by a professional teacher.
Classes are held weekday mornings and evenings. We will work with you to find a class that suits your schedule, skills and interests.
No formal teaching/tutoring experience is needed - just good communication skills, a desire to help and willingness to learn!
Training is provided. All volunteers complete a free 12 hour training workshop series.
6 month minimum commitment
