APPRISE utilizes volunteer counselors who receive special training. They are trained to answer questions about Original Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, long term care insurance, and preventive care. These counselors have direct access to state and federal Medicare information and resources. As many Erie residents have already learned, the APPRISE program is invaluable to those needing guidance to navigate through the Medicare process. Volunteers have the opportunity to make a great and positive impact to those they may serve. The GECAC Erie County AAA APPRISE Coordinator, Gertrude Simmons, can answer questions about these volunteer opportunities. If interested, please call her at 459-4581, extension 494.
