Get Busy Moving Washington Forward!

When was the last time you did something that saved a wetland or local farm or built a new high-speed train line? Didn’t think so. But it would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?

Volunteer, intern, or extern to transform transportation in Washington state to clean our air and water, fix what’s broken, expand transit service, and build great, healthy communities.

Transportation for Washington has that transformational vision. We’re a statewide, multiyear joint campaign between Futurewise and Transportation Choices Coalition - the state’s premier smart growth advocates for land use and transportation policy.

We want more trains, light rail, and buses. Want less toxic runoff and gases polluting our rivers and air. We want fewer potholes and more sidewalks and crosswalks. We want fewer mega-highways and more local farms.

That’s why we’re working for comprehensive transportation solutions. You can and should help us make it happen with your funnest summer ever!

We have SIX ACTION TEAMS for you to join.

  • The FaceTweet Team. We need more than 10,000 fans - can you get us there? A special team of Facebook and Twitter experts will put us on the cutting edge of social media in order to exponentially grow the number of our fans and followers.
  • The Frontline Team. Be our own action news team, keep the campaign up-to-speed on the day’s events, news, and opinion articles, write response letters to the newspapers and on blogs, and capture personal stories on video about how people use transit.
  • The Grower Team. Change can’t happen without people, so people are who we need. Help us sign-up new activists on the campaign by tabling and petitioning at community events, transit stops, and wherever we can find good-souled folks.
  • The Grunt Team. This summer we’ll be signing-up thousands of activists to get more involved. That means databasing names and numbers and phonebanking them to get them even more involved.
  • The Protest Team. It’s an outrage! Cuts to transit service are happening everywhere! We need you to get average folks attention. Put up signs at bus stops, waive signs on street corners & overpasses, and get people paying attention to what’s goin’ down!
  • The Swag & Social Team. This campaign’s not going anywhere without a little fuel. Work with breweries, restaurants, wineries, t-shirt companies, music venues, and whomever to get our volunteers and activists free swag and to put on great socials in order to keep our energy level rocking!

Want to make it an internship? Cool. Please tell us how you think this will fit within your academic program and provide the contact information of a professor or teacher as an academic reference. Besides an awesome hands-on education, you’ll also learn about smart growth land use and transportation policies and get trained on tried-and-true advocacy strategy and tactics.
