Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County

Literacy Volunteers is distributing Little Green Bookshelves full of FREE books throughout Wayne County. Little Green Bookshelves can be seen in laundromats, pediatric offices, grocery stores, and pizza shops to name a few. This program, started several years ago, has grown substantially and is making book ownership a reality for many Wayne County residents.

To adopt a bookshelf, you only have to be available to, at least monthly (more often for high traffic areas!), stop by either the LVWayne office (12 Canal St, Lyons) or the Little Green Annex (38 William St, Lyons) and pick up a box of books. After signing the books out with a staff member and reporting on the status of the shelf, you simply need to keep it orderly and fully stocked. We supply the books and the shelf, you get the joy of giving free books to your community!

A full list of duties is available, please contact us to find out how you can get involved. Some special accomodations will be made, if possible.

For only about a half hour a month, help us spread the joy of reading and books!
