We invite caring adults in Cumberland and York Counties to be friends, positive role models and mentors to children facing adversity, ages 7-17.
We have opportunities for both school-based (SB) and community-based (CB) 'Bigs'. The SB time commitment is 1 hour a week while school is in session. Community-based matches typically meet weekly or every other week engaged in activities you both enjoy.
In both cases, we ask volunteers to commit to visit with their Little for one year. Commitments are renewable.
Any child who lacks sufficient adult support is eligible. Most commonly, "Little's" are raised in economically disadvantaged homes or single parent homes. We are a prevention, not a treatment, program.
All volunteers provide references, pass a background check, and go through an interview and training process. Every match has the support of a BBBS professional staff.
