ORGANIZATION: Junior Achievement of Northeastern NY, Inc.

Make an exciting difference in the future of local K-12 students by teaching them economic success skills! You can inspire young people to experience the realities and opportunities of the new global marketplace through Junior Achievement. JA, the nonprofit leader in providing innovative financial literacy, work-readiness, and entrepreneurship education, needs volunteers to take career- and life-skills mentoring into local classrooms.

JA uses hands-on, experiential activities to teach young people about business, economics, how to manage money, how to live within their means, and how staying in school will have a direct impact on their future. Volunteers receive training and a kit containing 5-7 lesson plans and all materials needed for their program. Choice of grade level and school district is up to you. You will be partnered with a teacher who has requested JA, and who stays in class and helps while you lead the activities. Scheduling is flexible and you work out your visit dates with your teacher partner.
