ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Gateway Area Chapter

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Assistant will provide administrative assistance to the Volunteer Community Outreach Coordinator in one or two of the following areas:

  • Young Professionals Group: Young Professionals empowers men and women to join the movement to create a world free of MS through volunteering and raising funds, along with providing networking and awareness opportunities in a social environment in support of the National MS Society.
  • Internship Program: The Gateway Area Chapter has opportunities for students as interns from all backgrounds ranging from nonprofit administration to therapeutic recreation.
  • MS Service Day: This is an opportunity to serve people living with MS in the St. Louis region. Volunteers throughout the country will come together to give back to their communities and this is our way of helping those living with MS.
  • Do It Yourself Fundraising Events: Every year individuals, organizations, clubs, and businesses rally together to help in the joining the movement towards a world free of MS. These "third-party" or community events are run independently from the chapter by interested volunteers. The possibilities have become endless.

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and nationwide network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking volunteers to the MS cause is the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers four key fund-raising activities:

  • Bike MS
  • Walk MS

The Society also engages volunteers to help influence lawmakers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people living with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as:

  • Marketing/Communications
  • Public relations
  • Corporate and donor development
  • Medical, legal, administrative.
