Why Volunteer?
YFU USA is a strong and vibrant organization because of the collective efforts of a broad and diverse volunteer base. Our volunteers enable YFU USA to receive more than 2,000 international students and send over 500 American students abroad each year. When you join YFU USA as a volunteer, you become part of one of the most respected programs in international student exchange. Your involvement makes a real difference in the lives of teenagers, families, your local community and the world.
Volunteering with YFU USA is FlexibleAt YFU USA, we know your time is valuable. As an organization, we value flexibility in terms of hours and location of your volunteer activities. With many different volunteer roles available, you can find the one that best meets your needs in terms of scheduling and interests.
YFU USA volunteers have varied backgrounds, occupations, and ages. Volunteers are professionals, parents, retired, or recently graduated from college. Some volunteers experienced student exchange in their youth--either directly or as part of a host family. Our volunteers share common traits:- They desire to learn more about the world

- They demonstrate leadership in problem-solving situations

Youth For Understanding (YFU) prepares young people for their responsibilities and opportunities in a changing, interdependent world.
Description
Through YFU student exchange programs, young people from around the world live with a host family in another crountry, immerse themselves in the local culture, and build friendships that bring crountries together. As these young people discover new worlds and make lasting friendships, they not only learn about another culture and a new language, they also gain perspective on the world and develop a stronger sense of self.
With 60 years of success in international student exchange, YFU has built a reputation for maintaining the highest quality programs in the field--just ask one of the 250,000 YFU alumni around the world.
YFU is a volunteer based organization with one of the largest international exchange scholarship programs in the world. Each year, more than 4,500 students and families participate in programs around the world, with YFU USA receiving more than 2,000 international students and sending over 500 American students abroad.
