healingSPACE

healingSPACE at YWCA Bergen County (formerly the Rape Crisis Center) is offering a 48-hour training for individuals interested in volunteering with our center. Volunteering opportunities include: office/administrative support, outreach events, and direct service/advocacy.

Training begins in September and take place over seven weeks. The training will be held two evenings per week with one Saturday session.

Volunteers providing direct services have the opportunity to assist in answering our 24-hour hotline to provide crisis intervention, support, information, and referrals to survivors and their loved ones. Volunteers are able to provide these services 24/7; shifts are available during the day, evenings, and weekends. Volunteers assiting in direct services do so from home.

No specific experience is required to volunteer with our program,

Volunteer advocates are a crucial asset to our Center and provide much needed guidance, assistance, information, referral, support, and crisis intervention to clients dealing with sexual violence. Bilingual advocates are especially needed and encouraged to apply, as well as individuals from historically oppressed communities. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with our program and making a positive impact in a survivor's life, please call 201-881-1751 or email Megan@ywcabergencounty.org
