ORGANIZATION: Volunteers of America Northern Colorado Services

Children are often the forgotten victims of adult domestic abuse, sexual assault, and other violent crimes.

Help children of violence by fostering and maintaining a safe environment free of roughhousing and negativity.

As a Childcare Volunteer, you will care for the children of victims of domestic violence, while their parents attend support group or counselling sessions. Volunteers act as healthy adult role models and have a huge impact on the children they serve, whether playing, teaching, or simply listening to the kids.

Volunteers receive training with the Child Therapist and Volunteer Coordinator. Training will help the volunteer understand special issues the chldren may face as a result of living with domestic violence. Training will also teach volunteers how to work effectively with children who have been subject to or have witnessed abuse.
