As a STARS Mentor, you will meet with a student weekly to support their academic success through fun and simple activities and conversations targeting skills in Language Arts, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, as well as College and Career exploration. By your dependable presence, all Mentors serve as positive role models and help RRISD students succeed academically!

Weekly meetings occur during the regular school day, typically around lunch. We encourage Mentors to continue to meet with their assigned student for as long as possible, as it is difficult to replace the benefits of a great relationship, however, Mentors are asked to commit to at least a calendar year. All Mentors must submit to a name based criminal history check through the RRISD Volunteer Application. STARS is a school-based academic mentoring program encompassing students in grades K-12.
