Human Resources - The primary purpose of this department is to help manage the foundations operating systems in order to maintain it’s qualitative and quantitative aspects of employment. In order to promote the mission of The Afghanistan Blind Women and Children Foundation, we are looking for volunteers that have past human resources management experience, with strong leadership skills and knowledge of providing educational and medical services.

Your task is to supervise your department in:

  1. Managing all members of your team and being creative in ways of attracting additional volunteers and employees to your department.
  2. Making sure employee and volunteers’ rights are intact in the Foundation in the U.S. and in Afghanistan.
  3. Ensuring a program is in place for all members of the Foundation for sick days, holidays, vacations, etc.
  4. Ensuring all employees are paid on-time and correctly.
  5. Managing the health insurance benefits policy, as well as employee safety, welfare and wellness.
  6. Guiding and managing the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire Foundation
  7. Managing the overall talent management strategy including workforce planning; recruiting; hiring; training and development; performance planning, management, and improvement; and succession planning.
  8. Maintaining organization development, change management initiatives, and a company-wide environment for employees.
  9. Overseeing employment law compliance and compliance to regulatory concerns.
  10. Demonstrating proficiency in policy development, documentation, and implementation.
  11. Working with external employment agencies, recruiters, and temporary staffing agencies.
  12. Analyzing the effectiveness of all human resources efforts.

Volunteers:

The ABWC Foundation requests the following documentation:

  • Current resume, your email address, mailing address and phone number
  • Contact information for 2 individuals that are not family members, along with their email addresses, mailing addresses and phone numbers
  • Volunteers are obligated to work 2 hours per week

Student Interns:

The ABWC Foundation requires the following documentation:

  • Your email address, mailing address and phone number
  • College requirement forms from your department, resume, one page short bio that explains your education background, work experience and your volunteer positions in other organizations
  • 2 letters of reference that are not family members, along with their email addresses, mailing addresses and phone numbers
  • The student must commit 3-6 months of work with the foundation

Mission Statement

With collaboration and partnership of other international organizations, the foundation will offer services for blind individuals in Afghanistan in order to improve quality of life in the area of education, health, rehabilitation and community services.

Description

The foundation’s objective is to provide educational services to all ages, offer life changing services such as providing blind based computer applications and technologies for children, sending much needed blind based equipment and medical supplies from the United States, teaching students how to study mathematics and science using tactile systems, and providing training.

AIFB, by partnering with medical facilities around the world, will offer health services and provide financial support for prescriptions, laboratory procedures and operations as well as focus on access to local medical facilities, mental health treatment, chronic disease prevention, childbirth, and nutritional guidance.

The Foundation provides rehabilitation and evaluation services as well as community services. We collaborate with and support The Afghan Blind Association in Kabul to promote the disability rights movement.

Student interns: Must be college students or have a bachelor's degree. Interns commit to work 4-5 days per week. They will have a project for their time at the Foundation which they must complete.

Volunteers: Work schedule is flexible, so long as the volunteer works for at least 2 hours/week. Their tasks will be based on the department they request. The minimum time commitment is 6 months.

Board Directors and Officers of Departments must serve for one year.
