The Lace Museum is a small all-volunteer, non-profit museum devoted to the art of lace-making and the preservation of the skills and the lace. The collections manager is currently documenting the collection of more than 10,000 articles of clothing and lace. A costume historian is needed to assist in this project by analyzing and dating garments and assisting to date lace using knowledge of style trends over the last 400 years. To preserve the art of lace making, to exhibit lace and its historical use and to offer instruction in all facets of lace making.
Description
The Lace Museum is a small, all-volunteer museum located in Fremont, California. It has permanent and rotating exhibits of lace and lace making tools. Tours are offered for individuals and small groups. The collections are comprised of over 10,000 pieces of lace, lace making tools, ephemera, a library and an archive. Workshops are given both in person and virtually for beginning to experienced lace makers with teachers from around the globe. The museum supports itself through teaching, lecturing, online sales and offsite sales events.
