Won't you lend your hand as a volunteer?

If you live in or around the city of Snohomish, or are interested in helping those in need, the Snohomish Community Food Bank is the place to be.

The Food Bank has immediate openings for regularly scheduled volunteer work in all aspects of the operation.

1. Volunteers are sought for helping on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 7:00pm to help clients who are there for groceries. You must be helpful, reliable, cheerful, non-judgemental.

2. The Food Bank needs volunteers to drive back and forth to the local grocery stores, picking up food and unloading it at the Food Bank. You must be able to lift, bend and carry to do the job and have a clean driving record. This job takes 2-3 hours each time it is performed usually once a week.

3. Are you good at working in an office? Help is needed with filing, answering phones, organizing and so on. You must be able to work well with others, be flexible regarding work priorities and have an upbeat personality. You can work any day from Monday to Thursday at this job.

Mission Statement

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Snohomish County matches skills/training and preferences of persons 55+ to available volunteer opportunities and promotes their voluntary service as a valuable community resource.

Description

RSVP matches personal interests, skills and lifelong experiences with non-profit public organizations at over 116 different partner agencies, including non-profits, throughout the county. Benefits of being an RSVP volunteer are: ~excess insurance coverage including Liability, Auto, and Accident. ~partial reimbursement for transporatation costs to and from volunteer stations, subject to certain regulations and limits. ~ongoing recognition and Annual Recognition Event to RSVP volunteers. The only agency tracking and reporting the volunteer activities of persons age 55 and older through the National Senior Corps, RSVP promotes retired and senior persons as viable members of the community, able to share their skills, time and experience through volunteer service.
