Do you enjoy being at a theatre? Do you want to see a play for free?! Do you need to fulfill community service hours? Become a Volunteer Usher at the Hilberry Theatre!

The Hilberry Theatre is unique. It is the nation's first and only graduate repertory company, presenting seven plays in rotating repertory from October to mid-May. Each season is comprised of both classic and modern plays. Widely known for the high quality of its productions, the Hilberry has received numerous honors.

Volunteer Usher duties include:arriving one hour prior to curtain time, stuffing and distributing programs, tearing tickets, escorting patrons to their seats, ensuring that no concessions (besides water) are brought into the theatre, and picking up programs and trash after the performance has ended. You must also wear black shoes, black slacks or a black skirt, and a white blouse or shirt. Total amount of time per night spent at the Hilberry when ushering a show will usually be no more than four hours. Shows are mostly Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. There are occasional matinee performances on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and some Saturdays at 2 p.m.
