Title: Blood Service Volunteer (BSV)

Location: Various bloodmobile sites throughout the Northeast Philadelphia area.

Purpose: Support blood collection by providing customer service to donors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
• Greet donors and assist with registration
• Escort donors to canteen area
• Be alert and report any adverse donor reactions
• Offer refreshments, appropriate instructions, and conversation
• Explain importance of blood donations and encourage people to donate regularly
• Set up and maintain cleanliness in canteen area

Qualifications:

• Ability to effectively communicate with donors and staff
• Ability to be alert and attentive to detail
• Minimum age of 15 years

Training:

• Orientation to American Red Cross
• Orientation to blood services program
• American Red Cross Blood Service Volunteer Training
• On-site blood drive shadowing with seasoned Blood Service Volunteer
• Training updates as required

Scheduling: Blood drives are held everyday during various times and at various sites. Volunteers are able to choose what drives they would like to attend and times for drives are flexible. Volunteers must attend two blood drives per month to remain active.
