Coastal Cleanup Day work event at South SD Bay!

Description

The San Diego Audubon Society invites volunteers to help restore sensitive coastal habitat in San Diego Bay, a global Important Bird Area. This event will take place on Saturday, September 25 th from 9am -12pm, in celebration of Coastal Cleanup Day. In collaboration with the San Diego Oceans Foundation and the Port of San Diego, we’ll be restoring this site for our feathered friends by removing invasive plants and debris at Emory Cove to prepare for a native planting effort that will take place in the spring.

Wear work clothes, preferably long pants, hat, boots or sturdy shoes and use sunscreen. If you have them, feel free to bring work gloves and a bucket for collecting weeds and debris. Otherwise, we will provide gloves, tools, water and snacks.

Volunteers must register for this event online. To sign up, go to www.cleanupday.org and register for the event titled "South San Diego Bay - Emory Cove", located under the Zone 5: South Bay category. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian-signed waiver to participate - these can be downloaded at www.cleanupday.org when you register.
