  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 33 people are interested

Patient companions allow caregivers a much needed break from their daily routine of caring for their terminally ill loved one.

Our volunteers also provide companionship, whether it be talking, playing games, reading, watching TV, or just sitting quietly. It is a welcome socialization for someone who is homebound.

In addition to regular daytime hours, families can use support during evenings and weekends.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with yard work; provide an occasional meal; or bake a small cake or cupcakes to celebrate a patient's birthday.

Background checks and training are required. For more information, contact us today! 205-868-9221 or email: tequia.morton@amedisys.com

Mission Statement

To provide cost-effecient, quality health care services to the patients entrusted to our care

Description

Amedisys Hospice provides an individualized program of physical, emotional, spiritual and practical care for people in the last phases of an incurable disease, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible and in familiar surroundings. Hospice care is centered on both the patient and family/caregiver. Hospice personnel respect and respond to the unique differences in the family/caregiver lifestyle, values and wishes. Hospice affirms life.
