Photographer - Volunteer for Marketing/Community Relations

The Marketing Department handles a variety of communication and promotional activities for temporary and permanent exhibitions, various museum departments, and special events.

Position Summary

Volunteer photographers in this job must be willing to donate their time and talent while gaining working knowledge of our organization to capture the mood or feeling of the event(s). Volunteers must be able to manipulate their equipment so the finished images are clear. The photographer needs to have the ability to think strategically and creatively. Images taken are used in museum-produced pieces such as Compass newsletter and the school program guide, community newspapers, and magazine publications.

Requirements

  • Must own on SLR digital camera and equipment and working knowledge of the camera, lighting, flashes, etc.
  • Must be able to produce professional looking photos with high resolution.
  • Must have experience with Photoshop or other picture editing programs.
  • Must be able to work in an open space environment and stand for long periods of time.
  • Great people skills, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor are key elements of success for this position.
  • The ability to work independently and attentively is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Selected applicants must complete a Museum Volunteer Orientation.

Length of Position

  • This is an ongoing position.

The museum brings history to life everyday through live interpretations by costumed interpreters, multimedia presentations, educational programming and hands-on learning.

Covering 1,000 years of history, the museum’s priceless collection is housed in a 100,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility on downtown Louisville’s historic West Main Street. The Frazier Museum is the only institution to have a partnership with the British Royal Armouries, making it the only museum of its kind in the world.
